Bed G4 on Ward C2 in Addenbrooks was a lively place to be this afternoon! Lola had a surprise visit from Charlotte, Elsie and little Innes who happily sang, danced and drew funny pictures, distracting us all from the first bag of chemo which dripped away unnoticed. Thanks Charlotte, for taking me to the cash-point and saving me from 2 days of toast, toast and more toast.... I left my purse on the kitchen table!!
Jamie and Carrie came over later after Carrie's radiotherapy session and the girls shared hats and swapped hospital stories.... more giggling...
Lola shared the cakes she made for the nurses (I only ate ONE Tracey!) and Mick the Ward Chef has tempted Lola into a huge dinner while things are still appetising. I suspect I am about to be completely thrashed at Crosstrack... it requires strategic thinking Sara!
Thanks again for more lovely messages...can't wait for the hats, Louise... might have to try and initiate a Happy Hat Day at Chelmo when they arrive... you're a star. Nancy went to school in a bandana today in solidarity :-)
I understand it's tricky to become a follower of the Blog and post comments... the 'technician' is on the case and I will share his words of wisdom (!?) soon as! Lola and I LOVE reading your posts so please keep trying xxx

    Completely inappropriate comment - but it sounds like much more fun than teaching cumulative frequency diagrams to 9J2 (which I have to admit i got completely wrong but couldn't correct because I had an observer in the class. Ooops! Going to have to own up to them next lesson) Make sure I never teach your children!
    I sound NEARLY as dippy as Helen!

    It's Children in Need day next friday so how about ALL of us wearing hats ALL day - the sillier the better. Dare you all !!!! AND you HAVE to leave the house. How about it Lola? And we have to take photos of ourselves in our hats in public to prove we've done it.

    Lola did she really only eat one???? Glad to hear you've made buddies up there already. Looking forward to seeing all your groovy hats. Keep up with the eating, you need to keep the food away from your mum...........

    It was a bitter sweet surprise for us to see Helen and Lola today in our old 'digs' on C2, but it was great to see you both in good spirits and we are really looking forward to seeing all the girls in Chelmo soon. We have a lovely line in bespoke sick bowl millinery to show you, hand-crafted on many a boring day on the ward!

    Helen thanks for keeping up the blog - really good to know that Lola is keeping up her sense of humour. We are not able to visit as Ellie has swine flu so Ellie has plenty of time to look up some more jokes for Lola...watch this space. My view (contrary to your friends) is that you should eat all the buns you can possibly cram in as you never know where the next decent meal is coming from. Sending love to you and Lola
